Genevieve
Rudge is a 49 year old female teacher. She teaches Dutch at Mulo
Meerzorg with 25 years of teaching experience. Her teaching style is
very strict but she is a motivated and influential colleague.Genevieve
is teacher who strongly believes that having a well prepared work plan
(lesson plan) gets the job done! Less technology the better, because she
believe that it is a distraction. She likes to read a lot.
2 Detailed plan persuading teacher to use Technology.
Most
teachers were taught the conservative way during their Course. The
school system and curriculum were also programmed that way. Funds are
always scarce or priority shift to something else. Thanks to the first
lady and motivated teachers who see and support the growing needs of
implementing ict in the school system.
Persuading would be difficult but not impossible.
- Engage in a conversation and ask her if there are subjects that the student have difficulty understanding.
- Ask her if she is willing to use ICT’s in her classroom for that particular topic
- Telling the positive advantage of using ICT’s in the classroom (A. ICT places all learners on an equal footing. Given the right hardware and software to curriculum activities, even disadvantaged students can achieve the same degree of success as anyone else. B. ICT enables students to gather data that would otherwise be time-consuming or costly or both C. Students usually enjoy using computers and other types of technology, so lessons which make use of it start off with an advantage . etc…)
- Ask her if she is willing to go to a school to observe a lesson were ICT’s are incorporated in the lesson plan
- Make a lesson plan together with the teacher and incorporate ICT tools appropriate to the subject
- Practice with the teacher ( I do the ict part of the lesson).
- Prepare the teacher that there may be setbacks in the system that can drop the level of motivation. Always have a backup plan (chalk, blackboard)
- The participation, motivation and result are compared with each other.
- try to find more topics were the teacher has difficulty in and try to make a lesson plan with her.
- Assist the teacher how to use the ict tools for that lesson plan and observe what other skills are needed
- Practice and practice together. This is to grow the level of confidence of using ict tools in their lesson plan
3. Arguments we would use to possibly influence the teacher.
- ICT enables students to draft or redraft their work until they are satisfied with it.
- Students usually enjoy using computers and other types of technology, so lessons which make use of it start off with an advantage
- Just about every aspect of modern life involves educational technology; therefore, not to make use of it is a form of holding back.
- By using ict we get the students involve. That is why we say: Tell me, I’ll forget, Show me, I’ll remember and Involve me, I’ll understand
4. Detail ICT application that we would use to influence the teacher
- Youtube
- Students are more engaged through visually-stimulating videos and presentations
- Students or the whole classroom (or groups) can create video replies to each other
- Videos can aid lessons for students
- Teachers can spend more time focusing on students and less time explaining complex topics
- Google doc
- collaborative writing
- Teachers have the opportunity to check student progress and make sure students are following the guidelines. They can provide feedback in the document. Teachers can offer advice which may lead to higher grades.
- Teachers can use the revisions history to find out who has actually helped on the project and evaluate individual participation and content.
- Prezi
- Prezi can turn the most boring, uninspiring content into engaging, thought-provoking material.
- Kahoot
- Taps into the kids’ love of technology and competitive natures…
- Use the results to direct classroom activity organization
- Zero in on the needs of individual students.
- Conclude class with a quick round
- Warm up the class with a game
- Assess students’ knowledge before the start of a unit.
